Summer 2019 marks the 50th anniversary for the National Association for Black Veterans, Inc., and Delaware Chapter 94 is proud to host the annual Region VIII Conference from October 3, 2019 to October 6, 2019 in New Castle, Delaware.
NABVETS members from six states (Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC., and West Virginia) will converge at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center on Thursday, October 3, 2019 for registration and pre-conference activities. This is the first time that Delaware is hosting the Regional Conference in its 50 year history. Several hard-hitting topics that impact the organization’s mission and the veteran population are slated to be discussed. Some such topics are; VA Claims Clinics, Veteran Service Officer Training, and Membership Development for NABVETS members and Chapters.

The Medal of Honor was first awarded on March 25, 1863 and since then 3,515 awards were distributed; 90 of which were awarded to African Americans.

Sponsor Lucky Table 13: one special organization gets to sponsor a table for 8 impoverished veterans. This organization must submit a proposal not exceeding 200 words by close of business on November 1, 2016 to events@nabvetsDE.org. Proposals must include contact information (letterhead), a description of the organization’s mission, overall commitment to local veterans, donation amount, and a reason(s) why the organization should be selected.

Administrative staff will conduct a preliminary review of all proposals received and eligible proposals shall be forwarded to the Chapter Command Council for final award. Council members will rate proposals based on; (1) most creative reason for selection – 40%, (2) dedication to local communities – 40%, and (3) how much can be accomplished with the donation amount – 20%. The winning sponsor will be notified by email. Two runner up organizations will also be selected in the event a winning bidder forfeits.
Sponsorship is due within 10 calendar days. Organizations failing to comply with this deadline forfeits the opportunity to sponsor this event and the second runner up will be selected.
A congratulatory post on Social Media will announce the organization’s victorious status. A centerpiece displaying the organization’s logo will be featured at the event. And a capstone picture will be forwarded to the organization no later than November 22, 2016. Just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday! Happy Bidding!

Mission
On an ongoing basis, the National Association for Black Veterans, Inc. will provide strategic advocacy on behalf of its membership with Congress, the Federal Administration, State Administrations and other agencies and organizations. NABVETS will provide personal advocacy on behalf of veterans seeking claims against the United States Department of Veterans Affairs; advocacy for youth in all matters required for successful passage into adulthood; advocacy on behalf of families; with community involvement, provide advocacy in creating positive lifestyles for veterans; and to generate and preserve the historical record.
